dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We want to first take a moment to share our gratitude for taking the time to consider us during the adoption process. Thank you. We can’t begin to fathom how difficult of a decision this could be and wish to be supportive in any way possible.

We want to assure you your baby will be loved endlessly. Both of us have wanted to be fathers for as long as we can remember. Loving your child will be our top priority, and we both promise this to you if you choose us. We have always spoken about wanting to cherish and raise a little boy or girl, to show them the world and give them endless love from us and our loving families, from spoiling them during holidays and unforgettable birthday parties filled with fun and love. At the end of the day, our goal is to raise our future son or daughter to grow into being a good person.

We want to assure you there won't be a second of the day when they will go unloved or uncared for. The fact of the matter is, this child will become the reason for our living and will complete our family, making our house turn into a home for many, many years to come.

About Us

We are two health care professionals who love traveling and outdoor adventures. Matt is a critical care registered nurse and a geek at heart who loves nature documentaries, reading, Harry Potter, and anything that has to do with swimming and water activities. Miguel is the more hip one of the two who loves music, dancing, working out, and being a great host when guests and family come for a visit. At the end of most days, Matt’s love of cooking brings us together around the kitchen table as we share a home-cooked meal. Not to say we don't love a burger here and there, but we love the idea of home-cooked food bringing a family together around a table as they share their day together.

Our Home & Pets

We currently live in Southern California in a very gay-friendly community. We came with the intent that if we did have a family, our children would be surrounded by similar families that understand the dynamics of an adoptive family. There are many hikes nearby, a national park, and lots of events in the community. We are happy to be centrally located, about an hour away from the beach or mountains, giving us lots of opportunities for adventures. We have two dogs we treat like our babies. Riley is a 4.5-year-old husky/schnauzer mix who is the sweetest dog you can think of and loves cuddles and running around the dog park. Dottie is our newest addition, a basset hound pup born Valentine’s Day 2022.

Our Extended Family

Miguel’s parents are from El Salvidor and speak Spanish as their primary language. Salvadorian-inspired food during the holidays is something both his parents enjoy making. Miguel's mother already cannot wait to knit for the baby. Matt’s mother grew up in the suburbs of Southern California and has a more Americanized upbringing and traditions. However, she does enjoy making some traditional tamales, pozole, and Mexican sweet bread during the holidays. Matt’s sister has two twin boys, and they live in Arizona.

Holidays are fun for us. We both love to decorate with lights and decorations all over our home. Every holiday is a chance to celebrate. Whether it is a BBQ with some cousins at a beach house for the Fourth of July or a full Christmas or Thanksgiving feast, we love getting family together to share these moments.

We also have created a support system of close friends whom we’ve nicknamed our chosen family. Close friends who have become like family have surrounded us to create a loving environment. We all support, love, and encourage one another to live each other’s full potential.

What Led Us To Adoption

We often see images on social media of quirky family pictures where not one thing about it is perfect, and that seems perfect to us. We are excited to share our life of adventure, travel, laughs, and love with a child of our own one day. We cannot wait for the days where our kids run in covered in mud with the dog wondering where the mud came from, or the busy days running from soccer games to birthday parties and a random Target run because we forgot to buy a present. We also look forward to the days where we sit on the couch with a fireplace on a cozy day and watch Disney movies all day long. We can't wait for all the adventures to come.
