About Us

During our eight-year marriage, we have lived in California but did spend two years in Okinawa, Japan. Megan works from home full time, and Nate works as a civilian on one of the military bases which gives us a lot of flexibility to spend time together as a family. We've had so much fun seeing our 2 year old son grow up. We love to travel and explore other cultures and food; and have knocked out 23 countries together, and our son Jacob already has 2 countries on his list from our trip to Germany and Belgium last summer. We believe it’s important to see the world and learn about different cultures to understand the importance and value of diversity, and we can’t wait to share this with our children. We love to hang out with friends, hosting and cooking meals at our house, and have fun visiting parks, the zoo, hiking, or catching a baseball game on the weekends.

Our Home & Pets

We want the best environment for our children, and because of that, we moved into a nice, quiet suburb with highly rated school systems. We want our kids to have every opportunity to succeed in life and to support them in any way we can. Our house has four bedrooms and a big backyard and pool. We are in a neighborhood with lots of kids and often have neighborhood hangouts on the weekends. Our house is also located in an area with multiple parks and walking trails. We also have a few close family friends in the area who are just starting their families, so it’s been fun raising our kids together. We currently have two furbabies, Ricky Bobby and Vader, both Chihuahua mixes.

Our Extended Family

Nate’s family consists of his mom and his two older sisters. One sister lives in Upstate New York and has four kids with her husband. His other sister lives near his mom and only about 30 minutes away from Megan’s parents. She also has four kids with her husband, so our kids have lots of cousins to play with! Nate also has family in Washington we’re close with. His aunt and two uncles all have big families of their own, and his aunt adopted three girls from China.

Megan’s family consists of her mom and dad, who are still together after 36 years, and her younger sister. Her parents live about six hours away, but we see them for every holiday, usually do a vacation or two together during the year, and try to attend at least one Giants baseball game together. Our most recent trip was to Sedona, AZ, and we will all be going to Hawaii in December 2021. Her sister only lives about an hour away and is a nurse at a children's hospital. She is obsessed with her nephew Jacob and visits at least once or twice every two weeks to spend time with him. She can’t wait to spoil another niece or nephew!

Our Adoption Story

We always knew we wanted to have children together, and adoption has always been in our plan. We learned a few years ago we were not able to have biological children, so that just meant we had the opportunity and privilege to focus on adoption. We started our adoption journey in April 2019, and in February 2020 we got a phone call about a baby boy. On Leap Day 2020, our lives changed forever with the arrival of our son, Jacob James. It has been such a blessing having him in our lives, and we can’t wait to continue to grow our family. We are open to welcoming a child of any race and gender into our family and are so thankful we can expand our family through adoption.
