Family Type: Lesbian Couple
State We live in: California

dear expectant mother

We hope you choose us and can’t wait to meet you. If you do decide to go with us, you will be one of the most important people in our lives. We can’t appreciate what you will give to us enough and what you must be going through with the situation you are in. We hope you will love us and trust us to bring up this child or children in the most loving family possible. We hope to live up to the expectations you may have for us, and we can’t wait to keep in touch with you and send you updates throughout the years if that’s something you desire.

We know this is a difficult situation and coming to this decision took a lot of thought and care. If you do choose us, we promise to give this child everything we can, have family game nights, go camping, learn musical instruments, and explore and enjoy what we have on this earth.

We don’t know what kinds of emotions will come up during this process, but we are completely open to feeling it all and embracing what this journey will look like. We want to support you in whatever way we can.

We’re so excited to be on this journey.

-Melinda & Casey

About Us

We are Casey and Melinda, a pair of music nerds who have built a home filled with laughter, two adorable standard poodles, and a ton of house plants. We spend as much time as we can in nature, camping or backpacking in national parks, gardening in the backyard, or just taking the dogs on walks around the neighborhood. We both feel blessed to have careers in music. Music directing and coordinating, performing, conducting, and teaching make up most of our days and nights, and we often get to do these things together! Casey will be on stage singing and dancing, and Melinda is in the orchestra pit, either conducting or playing the viola. In our downtime, we enjoy reading, hanging out with family and friends, and hosting epic board game nights.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a cute little city in California. We’re close to some major attractions of the state but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle. We live in a nice neighborhood with big trees and kind neighbors. We have two standard poodles that are very sweet and loving named Bacchus and Violet. We have a lot of houseplants and a lot of books in our house and have a maximalist style. We have a big backyard with a lot of plants that we take care of, a hammock under the tree to relax in, and lots of butterflies. The theater we both work at is only a few minutes away from our house in the downtown area, which is full of locally owned shops and has a great farmers market.

Our Extended Family

Melinda’s extended family consists of her mom and dad, older sister, brother-in-law, and adorable little niece and nephew. On her mom’s side of the family, she has two aunts, an uncle, two first cousins, and three second cousins. On her dad’s side, she has an aunt and uncle and lots of cousins. Her favorite memories growing up were celebrating the big Jewish holidays like Passover and Hanukkah when the whole extended family would get together to have a feast and celebrate. Another favorite family pastime was going on roadtrips to national parks and historical sites.

Casey’s family consists of three siblings, her mom, four nieces and nephews, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Her dad died almost eight years ago; they were all very close. We love to play board games together, and Casey and her younger sister were brought up like twins, even though they aren’t technically. They are best friends and live only a few miles away from each other. They grew up camping and hiking a lot and doing Girl Scouts, and they were all homeschooled by their mom growing up until halfway through high school. They love Christmas and go all out.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have both wanted to adopt children since we were very young, especially since growing up as a gay person, your road to family life isn’t as clear cut. When we were dating and talked about getting married and raising children, adoption was the first pathway both of us wanted to pursue. After being married for a few years and feeling really settled in our lives together, we know this is the right time to start our family and that adoption is the best way for us to do that. We’re so excited to be on this journey.
