About Us

We met in 2013 online when we were both in our senior year of college. David’s pickup line was cheesy, but it must have worked because we got married in 2015! David is more extroverted and analytical, and Melissa is more introverted and empathetic. David works as a software engineer, and Melissa works as a counselor. We both love to joke with each other, go hiking in the Colorado mountains with our dogs, and mountain bike on the local trails. During the weekends, we visit friends or have friends over at our home. We also regularly volunteer at our church and attend Bible study every week. During the week, you can find us at home, often watching a comedy show, playing video games, or playing board games with friends.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a suburb right outside of Denver, close to the mountains. Our street has many families and kids who play with each other every day. The schools have some of the best ratings in all of Colorado. We think it’s the perfect spot to raise a family.

We live in a split-level, four-bedroom, two-bathroom house. We have a nice fenced-in yard waiting to be played in and filled with toys. We have two dogs and two cats. Our dogs’ names are Atom and Eevee, and our cats’ names are Milo and Oreo. They are all very friendly and love people.

Our Extended Family

We have been blessed with a local friend group that we consider our family. Many of our friends have young children, and we can’t wait to raise our children with theirs. We love our friends’ kids like our own, so we know they will love our children as well.

Our extended family lives in Texas and Arizona. Melissa’s family only lives a few hours away, so they come to visit all the time. She has one younger brother, eight cousins, grandparents, and both parents. All of her family is very supportive, and most of her cousins are getting married and starting families as well. It’s exciting to have families that will grow up together.

David’s family is a little farther away, but we visit them as often as we can. David has two younger brothers, one younger sister, too many cousins to count, three grandparents, both parents, and one step-parent.

We visit our families for holidays, usually Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our families will also take summer vacations together, like when we went to Hawaii for our grandparents’ 50th anniversary. We would love to create our own traditions for our family as well.

What Led Us To Adoption

Melissa has wanted to adopt for as long as she can remember. David has a heart for adoption as well because his dad was also adopted. When Melissa found out she likely could not have biological children, it solidified that adoption was the way to go. Both our families have adopted children in the past, so we have seen how adoption creates a loving family. We knew we wanted to start a family together and are ecstatic to fulfill that desire by adopting.
