Michael & Dishant

Family Type: Gay Couple
State we live in: Maryland

dear expectant mother

Please allow us to thank you for considering giving us the gift of parenthood. We are incredibly excited and humbled to become parents and sincerely appreciate your consideration.

As an interracial gay couple, our future child will have exposure to different cultural norms in addition to learning about and celebrating their own. Being a multicultural family brings an inherent sense of open-mindedness, support, and acceptance of others. Our future child will learn that greetings, languages, celebrations, and food vary from person to person. They’ll get it because of being exposed to a conspicuous family from birth.

In our family, we experience twice the number of celebrations and festivals as anyone else. We are lucky enough to be able to celebrate the independence of the USA on July 4 and the independence of India on August 15. We celebrate Valentine’s Day and Diwali. With so many celebrations and festivals bringing together family, friends, food, and music, our future child will get to experience the richness and diversity of multiple cultures. Our family breaks the mold, and that is something we love to celebrate!

Please allow us to thank you for considering giving us the gift of parenthood. We are incredibly excited and humbled to become parents and sincerely appreciate your consideration.

About Us

We are newlyweds Dishant and Michael! Dishant is a project manager, and Michael is a client onboarding manager. Our relationship began in 2018 and married in 2021. We’re not perfect, but we’ve been through so much together and have overcome so many challenges that there isn’t anything we can’t take on, including parenthood. We’ve been inseparable since the beginning, and our meeting felt like coming home. Our love has only deepened over time, and we’ve learned that we can count on each other no matter what life presents. From the beginning, we’ve always known we wanted children, and we are very excited to start a family. We have only been together for three years, but it feels like we have been together for so long. We know how to comfort each other, how to make each other laugh, and how to solve problems together.

Our Home & Pets

We share our home with a two-year-old mini goldendoodle, Cooper. Cooper is incredibly gentle and absolutely loves everyone and everything. Our community is very family oriented and big on children’s activities, especially around the holidays. For Easter, our community puts together an extravagant Easter egg hunt for children of all ages. For Halloween, children show off their costumes in a Halloween parade that is followed by a block party full of contests and friendly scares. For Christmas, there is an annual block party where neighbors have campfires in their front yards while drinking hot cocoa as they watch Santa Claus slowly pass by atop a fire truck while throwing candy canes for everyone to enjoy.

Our Extended Family

Our favorite part of the Indian holidays, other than the food, is the ability to feel included in a community. Diwali, the festival of lights, is generally a time for visiting family, exchanging gifts, feasting, and showing gratitude for all of our blessings. It is also the start of the new year in the Hindu calendar. We celebrate by lighting fireworks and candles as well as visiting temples.

We celebrate Christmas with each other on Christmas Eve. This gives us the ability to spend the entirety of Christmas Day with our family to enjoy their company, love, and laughter. We can’t wait to see the excitement on our child’s face as they awake every morning during the Christmas season to find out what that silly Elf on the Shelf got into overnight. We can’t wait to bake annual holiday cookies and not only eat way too many ourselves but also share them with our family and friends.

Every week we are going to play a series of new music in different cultures that we can enjoy, dance to, and sing together. Every night we will have family cheer time, where we celebrate all of our successes (no matter how big or small) from earlier in the day.

What Led Us To Adoption

To us, adoption is positive, inspiring, and a very special way to create a family filled with unconditional love and support. We believe everything happens for a reason. Adoption has always been something we have talked about and been excited for. We know we are meant to build our family through adoption, and we are so excited to become parents. When we first started talking about growing a family, the possibility of adoption was something we were always interested in.

One of Michael's oldest friends adopted a son. She showed us adoption is a very special way to create a family.
