State I live in: Pennsylvania

dear expectant mother

Thank you so very much for your courage and selflessness as you consider the best option for you and your precious baby. I am honored you are interested in learning more about me and the home I have to share with a child. My home is filled with rescue animals, good friends, and family, and I am grateful you are considering me as an adoptive parent.

I am looking forward to sharing so many of our family traditions with a child—from baking Polish cookies and pierogi from scratch, Easter brunch, and family baseball outings (Go White Sox!) to creating new traditions like decorating my hot pink Christmas tree for the holidays, dressing up the front of the house for Halloween, stoop night on my block, and picking fresh basil from my urban garden for smoothies in the summer. I’m excited about the opportunity to be a mom and to experience life through a child’s eyes. I know it won’t always be perfect or easy, but I would like you to know I will love and protect your baby with my whole heart and will be their constant support from the moment I welcome them home.

Thank you again for wanting to know more about me. You are very brave, and if you entrust me with your baby, I promise to love them, guide them through life, and be the best mom I can. Thank you so much for your consideration!

With love and respect,
Michelle

About Me

I’m Michelle, a native Chicagoan who moved to the East Coast for my job in 2010. I love living in my city and enjoy all that it has to offer, from diverse people and cultures to food, parks, museums, and local music. I am the first woman in my family to go to college and own her own home. My career is in the pharmaceutical industry in drug safety. I volunteer and focus mostly on protecting our city’s wildlife and domestic animals and also as the co-block captain for my street. I work closely with my councilman to make sure our residents have access to city programs, help keep the block clean and safe, and circulate our local council’s newsletters. I have a great group of friends, and we enjoy spending Friendsgiving and holidays together.

My Home & Pets

I own a home in one of the most diverse areas in my city. I purchased it in 2012 and have been making it my own ever since! I have become somewhat of a novice handyperson and am able to repair roofing, replace doors and wall trim, and repair plaster! I live with my three dogs and cats and enjoy working in my yard and walking my dogs around our home. On weekends, I like to enjoy the city or, if the weather keeps me home, my pets and I take over the sectional sofa in my living room and watch movies and bake fresh bread; Star Wars marathons are always a good way to spend a rainy day! My city is home to some of the most beautiful architecture, historical sites, and museums in the world. There is always something to do: the orchestra, the theater, a day at the museum, or a trip down to the shore for some beach time! I also have a vacation home in Chicago; it is a condo that sits in a highrise on Lake Shore Drive. It is a short walk to the beach, and you can get to just about every museum and historical site in the city in just a few minutes!

My Extended Family

My mom lives with my brother and his wife in California, and I have several relatives who still live in Chicago. As a child, I was very close with my grandfather. I spent many weekends at my grandparents’ home and learned what it was to be a good person from my grandfather. The work and life lessons he taught me from a young age have stayed with me. He came here from Poland with his parents with very little. He worked hard all his life, and family meant the world to him. He is my North Star; I continue to look at how he lived his life and always stop and ask myself what he would do when I am struggling to make sense of a situation or as I make a big decision. My home is filled with restored photos of my grandparents and family, some dating back to 1930. I am looking forward to adding baby photos to my walls!

What Led Me To Adoption

From a very young age, I knew my path to parenthood would be adoption; it is not something I was able to describe as a young person, but it always seemed natural. As I grew older and met parents who adopted their children, my desire grew stronger. Welcoming a child into my home is something I have dreamed about for a long time. Now that I have a well-established career and loving home of my own, I am ready and excited to start my family through adoption.
