dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We cannot begin to imagine what led you to this moment, but we are so grateful and humbled that you are considering this path of adoption and our family. We are ready and eager to be second-time parents and for our son to have a sibling. The mere thought of receiving this gift of love is beyond words.

While we have not met yet, we already have something in common: We all want the best for the child you will bring into this world. Together, we want this baby to thrive, laugh, grow up happily, and be loved.

We are honored at the prospect of meeting you and creating a bond between three adults who all want this baby to experience life to the fullest.

About Us

We are a happily married couple who have spent the last 14 years of our lives together. Mitch has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and his master’s in business administration. Lukas has undergraduate degrees in psychology and Spanish and his master’s in family counseling psychology. We both work for a large healthcare company where Mitch leads a care management business focused on helping individuals facing complex illnesses live life to the fullest and Lukas is a senior director of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lukas is fluent in Spanish and has a great interest in learning about Hispanic cultures. Our son, Sebastian (age 3), is the light of our lives and was adopted through LifeLong. He is biracial with Latino and white heritage and attends Spanish-immersion childcare during the day with Lukas speaking Spanish with him at home. Mitch is learning!

Our Home & Pets

Our colonial house is tucked away in a quiet cul-du-sac within a vibrant community. We have an expansive yard with plenty of room to play and have fun. In the summer, we enjoy our pool and patio while hosting dinners and bonfires with friends and family. We are within walking distance of several parks, which we enjoy frequently with Sebastian. Our neighborhood is full of families with children of all ages, and the school systems are highly rated. We love taking walks, playing at the parks, and biking. We have a loving, playful dog named Willow. Her breed is known to be extremely friendly with babies and children. You can see her kind nature from the photos! Willow loves when Sebastian plays fetch with her.

Our Extended Family

Family is the most important thing in our lives. Mitch’s immediate family includes his two parents, older brother, and identical twin brother. Mitch’s older brother has a son through adoption with a Latino background whom Sebastian adores.

Lukas’s immediate family is made up of his parents and younger brother. His extended family is larger than life, with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family gatherings at birthdays, Christmas, weddings, and everything in between are always filled with singing, dancing, and laughing. Lukas has a cousin ten months his senior who has been his best friend since birth. From playing together in diapers to being each other’s man and maid of honor at their respective weddings, he cherishes their relationship deeply.

Our Adoption Story

At family gatherings, Lukas could often be found holding the babies or playing with the toddlers. He always knew he wanted to be a parent from a young age. Mitch also always knew he wanted to have children and build a beautiful, loving family. On our first date fourteen years ago, one of the first things discussed was our shared dream of raising children. We are extremely grateful to have our son, Sebastian, through the process of adoption. We maintain a relationship with his birthmother and are so grateful to have her in our lives. Sebastian will have the shared experience of being adopted with his younger brother or sister. We are so thankful you are here and are excited to go on this journey together.
