dear expectant mother

To a Loving Mother:

I keep thinking about you: what you must be feeling, what decisions are weighing on your shoulders, and how much love you must have in your heart to consider all the options for your child. I value bravery and connection. I already know you must be incredibly brave, no matter what choice you make for your future child. I’m thankful you’re here, for just a moment, connecting with me.

In my home, your child will never doubt they are loved for who they are, whoever they grow up to be. It’ll be a home of storytelling, where we’ll laugh, dance, and learn. With Lake Michigan outside the window, we’ll watch the sun setting over the water, go boating in the summers, and explore the beautiful trails and scenery of my lake community all year long.

We’ll bake homemade chocolate chip cookies, read books together, have adventures, and spend time with friends and family. We’re going to have so much fun. Parenthood isn’t all giggles and good days, but for me, it will always be about joy. That’s what your child would be for me—a joy and a gift beyond my imagination.

Thank you for visiting with me for this moment; I hope I get the chance to know you. I’m wishing you peace and happiness as you navigate this journey.

With love,
Natalie

About Me

I find my peace by the water, walking through the woods, connecting with my family and friends, and, let’s be honest, winning at MarioKart! It goes without saying, but I love kids. Their curiosity, energy, and wonder are infectious, and I find myself spending more time with my cousins’ children than I do with the adults when we all get together! My friends describe me as passionate, driven, enthusiastic, and full of compassion. I describe myself as a writer, an avid reader, and a big Spider-Man fan. I work as the head of HR and marketing for an all-remote software company. I’ve been with the company for over eight years, and working from home allows me to have a great work–life balance and a flexible schedule. Outside of work, I write fiction, go for runs and hikes, binge the occasional TV show, and spend time with the people I love.

My Home & Pets

My Wisconsin home is directly on the shores of Lake Michigan, and I have a lovely view of the bay from the living room! There is a playground outside my front door, a dock on the shore, and a pool and tennis court on the community grounds. My two-bedroom condo is spacious, with plenty of sunlight, a fireplace that I use liberally in the winter months, and two friendly tomcats, Arthur and Merlin. My small town is flooded with people who enjoy lake vacations in the summer seasons but has a year-round, tight-knit community with an excellent school district, a host of family-friendly festivals and activities, and countless opportunities to experience nature. There are five state parks in the county!

My Extended Family

Family has always been important to me, and I now live only a mile down the road from my parents! We can often be found having dinner together, enjoying weekend hikes, or stargazing during winter evenings. My dad, in addition to working as a commercial pilot, spends time in his workshop creating everything from bluebird houses to wooden toy boats for my young cousins to play with in the water. My mom, now retired, spends her time volunteering with local nonprofits, including one she co-founded that centers around empowering women and supporting the local community. They are both incredibly supportive of my adoption journey and can’t wait to welcome their first grandchild!

My brother and sister-in-law, along with my grandparents and cousins, live just a couple of hours away, and we gather together as frequently as possible. Thanksgiving is our big family holiday. My parents host each year, and after dinner, we love to play cards around the kitchen table.

Family is more than just blood to me, and I am grateful to have close friends whom I also call my family. They are an important piece in my support system as I approach parenthood.

What Led Me To Adoption

I’ve always wanted to be a mom, and I’ve known for years that I would pursue parenthood regardless of having a partner in my life. Adoption is my first calling. It’s what my heart, my knowing, tells me is meant for me. I’ve always believed family and love are beyond biological connection, and each step I’ve taken on this journey has reinforced that this is the right path for me. With my home and heart ready, my family close by, and my career stable, I'm excited to grow my family and welcome a child into my life.
