Nicole & Chinyere

Family Type: Lesbian Couple
State We live in: California

dear expectant mother

Hello from California! We are a fun-loving, lawyer-lawyer couple with two silly pets. Chinyere loves yoga and gardening, while Nicole’s hobbies include watching and playing sports. We have been married for eight years and have long dreamed of becoming parents, so thank you for considering us!

We know you must be going through a roller coaster of emotions right now, some of which may include fear and concern for your newborn. But if there is one thing we can guarantee, it is that your child will be cherished and surrounded by love if we have the honor of being chosen to be your adoptive parents. We both come from large, close-knit families who are eager to support us on our parenting journey. Growing up, our parents were our cheerleaders and showed us unconditional love, so we will do everything in our power to make sure your child grows up in the same manner---with all of the love, support, and security they could ever want or ask for. We promise to give your child a terrific education and all of the space they need to explore their interests and hobbies.

If we embark on this journey together, we would be open to sharing letters, pictures, and visits. But for now, we wish to express our gratitude for considering us in this difficult but important decision.

We have been married for eight years and have long dreamed of becoming parents, so thank you for considering us!

About Us

Chinyere is a civil rights lawyer, and Nicole is a lawyer who specializes in tax. We met during law school, where our friendship blossomed into a romance. Now we’ve been together for 12 years and married for seven! Family and friends are very important to us along with maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. Nicole is a natural athlete who loves playing and watching sports, including basketball and rugby. Chinyere loves yoga, photography, spicy food, and reading science fiction. Collectively, we enjoy traveling, joking and laughing, spending quality time with our cat and dog, and soaking up the sun in our backyard. We are excited about the new adventures that parenthood will bring and are grateful to have found in each other the perfect partner with whom to experience it all.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a spacious, four-bedroom home that is perfect for kids. It has a big, sunny living room and kitchen, a dining room great for family meals, and a large, fenced-in backyard perfect for games. We also have two fur babies, a cat named Subzero and a dog named Selma, who amuse us daily. Our neighborhood is quiet and residential and is close to parks, schools, and shopping. Our neighbors are friendly and family oriented, and they enjoy giving us gifts over the holidays as well as fresh lemons and avocados from their fruit trees!

Our Extended Family

Chinyere is the eldest of four and has two younger sisters and a younger brother. Nicole has two brothers, one older and one younger. Because we have been together for almost 12 years, we have become integrated into each other’s family, which Nicole really appreciates because growing up, she always wanted a sister. She got her wish times two with Chinyere’s sisters!

Nicole’s mother always emphasized the importance of family and made sure there would be family activities to keep all of the siblings close. Every year we spend either Thanksgiving or Christmas with Nicole’s brothers and the other holiday with Chinyere’s family. However, one family tradition Nicole is eager to change is Chinyere’s tradition of opening presents at 4 p.m. on Christmas Day instead of first thing in the morning! Since Nicole loves to playfully tease Chinyere about her family’s slowpoke ways, Chinyere has agreed to open Christmas presents in the morning as soon as we have a family of our own!

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always wanted adoption to be part of our journey as a same-gender couple because we come from large, loving families and have always wanted a family of our own. Growing up, our parents were our cheerleaders, confidants, and best friends (in the case of our mothers!) and made us feel like we could accomplish anything we wanted. Experiencing this pure, unconditional love during our childhoods made us who we are today, so adopting children can shower with the same type of love we received growing up feels like the best way to build upon our parents’ legacy of love.
