dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We can’t imagine how difficult it must be to explore adoption. We believe it is one of the most selfless decisions anyone can make and are so grateful to you. As parents ourselves, we know the hardships and emotions of pregnancy and childbirth. We are humbled that while we can’t have more biological children, you would consider us to raise yours.

We think knowing where you come from is so important. If presented the opportunity, we look forward to getting to know you and being able to share with our child about the amazing woman they came from. We know your influence will enrich our lives if you choose us. We are grateful to even be considered for the responsibility of raising your baby. They would be raised in the beautiful mountains of Utah, surrounded by family. They would grow up making memories skiing, fishing, boating, and camping. They would work hard, play hard, and never wonder how much they are loved.

In the end, we just want you to make the best decision for you and your baby. We love you and pray for you no matter what you decide. You are amazing in our eyes and doing something more difficult than most people ever experience.

About Us

We are all about the outdoors. We love hiking, mountain biking, trail running, golfing, skiing, and just being outside together. Sara is a behavior consultant working part-time for schools, helping kids to thrive in difficult situations. Parker is a software developer with a flexible work-from-home schedule. These careers allow us to get out as a family nearly every day to go to a park or get on the trails. It’s important to us that we work, play, and eat together as a family. We both have big families with almost everyone living within a 30-minute drive. Family is everything to us.

Our Home & Neighborhood

Our home is surrounded by mountains, and a ten-minute drive gets us to world-class hiking, mountain bike riding, boating, and skiing. We get to live next to Parker’s parents and two of his siblings and are often spending time with cousins and grandparents. We live on four acres that are mostly farmed with alfalfa and grass for feed but also provides a lot of room for our fruit trees, two mini sheep, two barn cats, chickens, and large garden. We also have two dogs (Kelty is a border collie mix, and Nike is a German shepherd) who love the open spaces.

Our Family & Friends

Parker is the fourth of five children and has over 30 cousins. Every year nearly everyone gets together for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. We see nearly all of Parker’s siblings weekly at family dinners or more often when we just hang out. We have a family trip with his family every summer and have gone to places like Disney World, Mexico, and Island Park near Yellowstone. Our son’s best friends are his cousins, who walk between our houses constantly.

Sara is the first of five children who are very close. Sara’s family was raised on skiing. Every Christmas Eve, the entire family gets together to go skiing. Later in the winter, everyone goes on a ski trip together. We have been skiing in Alaska, Canada, and Colorado, chasing the best skiing in the world together. Sara’s mom is always looking for an excuse to see us and spend time with our son. Sara’s siblings are just beginning to have children, so the cousin party is growing.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have both always dreamed of filling a home with children. We discovered recently that we are very unlikely to have any more biological children. After we discovered our one child was a total miracle, we have been searching for every way possible to grow our family. We are licensed foster parents, which is rewarding, but we are so excited to be able to adopt a child to have in our home to love forever. Just the thought of being able to hold and care for a newborn gives us butterflies.
