dear expectant mother

Words cannot express how grateful we are that you have taken the time to get to know us and are considering us as potential parents for your child. We understand this is a very difficult time for you, and we want to assure you that, if given the opportunity, your child will grow up in a home that is safe, supportive, open, and filled with love.

Having a positive impact on those around us is at the core of how we live our everyday lives, and becoming fathers is something we have talked about since our first date. We see adoption as not only the incredible opportunity to share our unconditional love and strong sense of family with a child but, more importantly, to have a positive impact on your journey and provide you with the comfort and assurance that your child has a remarkable future.

We want you to know how much respect we already have for you in embarking on this journey. The gift of raising a child would not be possible for us if it were not for your courage and strength. We promise to provide your child with laughter, learning, culture, stability, and the environment to embrace and celebrate who they are—all while continuing to remain grateful for the impact you will have made on our lives.

About Us

We met while working in entertainment for a theme park. Our paths crossed often, but we didn’t really know each other well. Several years later we reconnected on an app (because, you know, the late 2010s), and on a random Thursday, we met for a “not date” dinner. Lots of special memories and major life events have happened since: moving in together, traveling and cruising, a kitchen/backyard remodel, 2020 (duh), being there for each other when our grandfathers passed, and getting married with over 250 of our family and friends by our side. Chris is now a senior manager where we first met and is also the director of a local choir. Robert is a realtor and the self-proclaimed “silly one” of the relationship. We love to travel, be involved in the community, and spend quality time with our extended family, neighbors, and friends.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a 1920s Spanish bungalow in a historic area of southern California. Our house is on one of the best streets anywhere, with the most amazing neighbors and their kids, who have all become life-long friends. There are block party BBQs, movie nights, pumpkin carving, Christmas caroling, and so much more! We also have a second home in the mountains that is a relaxing nature getaway. Outside our house, it says, “Spoiled dogs live here,” because it's true! Tommy and Penny are mixed Chihuahua/dachshunds (or Chiweenies), and Luna is our English cream golden retriever. They love to go on walks and play together, and we are always working on their training. They are also very well behaved and look forward to being cuddle buddies!

Our Extended Family

Family is incredibly important to us, and we are lucky to have many of ours close by. Chris’s parents, sister, and two nephews live about 20 minutes away; Robert’s parents, some aunts and uncles, and several cousins live about 10 minutes away; and the rest of our extended family is all over the U.S. and in the Philippines.

Robert’s family is big, with Filipino and Spanish influences. Food is a large part of these cultures, and his mom always surprises us with delicious meals that make us want seconds; it’s almost guaranteed! Thankfully, Robert has also become a great cook, so we can continue a tradition of good home-cooked meals! Chris’s family is very close, and we spend lots of time with them, from family dinners to apple picking and trips to the mountains. Growing up, Chris spent many summers on the island of Kaua’i with his family, and we love continuing that tradition with them.

Whenever we are with family, fun, laughter, and lasting memories ensue. We would not be who we are today without their love and support, and they are all excited about a new addition to the family!

What Led Us To Adoption

The desire to raise children together is something we have shared since day one. We have both been blessed to play an important part in raising family members—Chris with his two nephews and Robert with his younger step-siblings—but we are very much looking forward to raising kids of our own. Several friends of ours have adopted, and their own journeys have been part of the inspiration, education, and support that has led us here. We both come from close-knit, loving, and supportive families who have helped shape who we are today, and we want to provide a similarly warm and caring environment that will be a safe space for our children to grow and thrive.
