dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Parent,

As we write this letter, we are struck with awe at the choice you are contemplating. We want you to know we have the utmost respect and admiration for the decision you are considering. While we can only imagine the weight of your decision, we want you to know how much we desire to parent and love a child. Thank you for taking the time to read through our profile and get to know us as you consider making an adoption plan for your child. We are ready to welcome you and your child into our lives.

We are proud of the life we have built and look forward to sharing it with a child. We are excited to have them take part in activities we love, such as traveling, building Legos, going to the beach, and sharing traditions like matching PJs on Christmas Day, as well as building new ones.

We are looking forward to going on this journey together with you while respecting your privacy and the life ahead of you and with the child's best interest being at the center of all our hearts and minds. And while we will never be able to understand what this process is like for you, we promise to always honor this incredible, selfless act by providing the best life we can for your child.

We wish you the best and pray for you to have peace, whatever your decision may be.

With love,
Cris & Sam

About Us

We met in Cancun, Mexico, through a mutual friend and immediately hit it off; we became friends, and that grew into a spark we couldn’t ignore. We have been together ever since and got married in the middle of the pandemic in 2020. Sam has a successful design career as a senior UI designer working for a higher education institution, and Cris is currently a cooking instructor for an after-school program for elementary kids. We have been through so much together over the past seven years—job changes, DIY house renovations, travels, loss, and welcoming new nieces and nephews. Through all this, we have just gotten stronger. Together, we love to travel, cook, and create new adventures, but we also enjoy watching movies and the simple life of lazy days at home. We feel blessed to have such a strong relationship and have so much fun together, and we are thrilled to grow our family!

Our Home

We live in a three-story house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, within walking distance of several parks, trails, and playgrounds. There is also a big park nearby with soccer and baseball fields, volleyball courts, and playgrounds. There are a lot of restaurants nearby with different types of cuisine. The neighborhood is quiet and calm and has a small-town feel despite being in the middle of a big city. We live in a diverse, urban neighborhood that welcomes people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and beliefs.

Our Extended Family

Our extended family is very important to us. We are both the eldest sibling with a younger brother each, and we grew up with very similar values and backgrounds with lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles around. We both feel fortunate to have such loving, close, and supportive families that accept us for who we are.

Sam’s parents and brother live near us, and we get to see them often. We enjoy having them over for dinner and brunch. Sam’s brother has a two-year-old son to whom we are godmothers, and we enjoy spending time with him playing or taking him on bike rides around the nearby trails.

Cris’s parents and brother live in different parts of Mexico, and we see them at least four to five times a year, either when we go visit or when they come over and spend a few days with us. Cris also has family in Illinois, and we frequent them as well.

Most of our extended family resides in Mexico, where we both were born and raised, and we enjoy visiting them and spending time with them. Like us, all of our family members are bilingual in English and Spanish.

What Led Us To Adoption

We both grew up in close-knit families, and we feel we are bursting with love to shower on our future child. We chose adoption because we believe in the central value it brings to society. It helps to strengthen bonds between our biological families and those we choose because family isn't always blood but the people in your life who want you in theirs and accept you for who you are—the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what. We are excited about the new connections and family we will create, not just with the child but with the child’s family as well, because love is not a finite emotion; our hearts create love as needed.
