dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to read about our family. We know you are facing a decision that is both brave and incredibly difficult, and we want you to know that we see your love and the selflessness it takes to even consider adoption for your baby. We are deeply grateful for the strength and care you are showing.

Our journey to adoption has been one of both heartache and hope. After growing our family through the gift of our son, we felt in our hearts that adoption was the path we were meant to follow next. We have so much love to give, and we believe that opening our home through adoption is the way we are meant to grow our family again.

As we think about the future, our hope is to give your baby a safe, joyful, and nurturing home. We imagine them playing and laughing alongside our son, learning from one another, and growing up as the best of friends. We dream of family traditions, bedtime stories, and shared adventures, all wrapped in unconditional love.

We cannot thank you enough for considering us as adoptive parents. Your courage, your baby, and the decision you are facing are not things we take lightly. Whatever you choose, please know that you and your child will always be held in our thoughts with deep respect and gratitude.

With love and hope,
Derek and Savannah

Our Lifestyle

A typical day in our lives is pretty active, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We both love being outdoors, whether it’s hiking through scenic trails, kayaking on the water, casting a line to fish, or riding four-wheelers across rugged paths. Camping under the stars is another favorite, and honestly, if it involves fresh air and nature, you can count us in. One of our biggest goals together is to visit every national park in the country, and we’re steadily working our way through that list. Work is also a big part of our daily rhythm—since we both run our own companies, our schedules can be busy and flexible. Savannah works from home most of the time, which allows her to balance both career and family life. Evenings usually revolve around family, whether we’re cheering on Ian at a sporting event or gathering around the table for dinner. Those nightly meals often spark the best conversations and laughter, making them one of our favorite parts of the day.

Our Home & Neighborhood

Our home is nestled in the quiet countryside, where each morning begins with a beautiful sunrise over wide, open farm fields. Our small community is close-knit—so much so that Ian’s graduating class has just 30 students. Within five minutes of our house is a lake where we often go fishing or take the kayaks out for a peaceful paddle, enjoying the calm of the water. Fall is our favorite season, and we always look forward to the Apple Festival, a cherished local tradition. We live right on the state line—our house is in Ohio, while our neighbors across the road are in Pennsylvania, which makes our spot feel unique. Life on our property stays lively thanks to our three dogs, Rose, Sage, and Brock, who are lovable couch potatoes always ready for cuddles, and our flock of chickens that keep us supplied with fresh farm eggs every day.

Our Family & Friends

We come from a very loving and supportive family. To start with Ian, our son! He is the most caring and loving teenage boy. He is very active, loves baseball, jiu jitsu, and being outdoors. He cannot stop talking about being a big brother and has a heart of gold to share.
Savannah is one of 4 girls, and is very close with all of them. Her parents and 2 of her sisters live within 5 miles away, and the third 40 minutes away. Summers are spent at her parent’s pool with all the kids!! Cousins are 2 teenage boys and 2 baby girls. The 3 boy cousins adore the little girls and watch over them like a hawk.

Derek is an only child and has a lot of love and support from his mom, stepfather, and dad. They all live within 15 mins and are at almost every sporting event that Ian has!

Holiday’s are a big deal for both sides of our families and we always spend them with both sides. Christmas Eve is always at Savannah’s parents where the kids are given way too many presents!!! Then, Christmas day is Derek’s parents, and his mom is a fantastic cook.

Our Favorite Adventures

Our most favorite adventures are definitely hard to narrow down, because there are just so many moments we treasure. We absolutely love to travel and make it a priority to take a couple of vacations each year. Seeing new places, exploring different cultures, and making memories together is something that brings us so much joy. If we had to choose, Disney World and Alaska would be tied for first place on our list of favorites. At Disney World, we both felt like little kids again, especially with Ian lighting up when he met the characters and we got to enjoy the magic of the parks from sunrise to fireworks. Alaska, on the other hand, was breathtaking in an entirely different way. Flying in a helicopter over the snowy peaks, landing on a glacier, and drinking ice-cold water directly from it felt like stepping into a dream. Beyond big trips, we also love going on hikes and discovering hidden treasures in the natural world around us.
