Shannon & Laura

Family Type: Lesbian Couple
State We live in: Wisconsin

dear expectant mother

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude for considering us as potential parents for your child. We are sure this decision is incredibly difficult, and we want you to know you are truly a blessing for us. We have been wanting to expand our family for a few years now with no success, and we are so thankful to have this opportunity to adopt.

If chosen, we can promise that your child will grow up with laughter, stability, culture, consistency, and the ability to be who they are in a safe and loving environment. We are a dog-loving home, so we promise to surround them with lots of wet noses and furry kisses. We promise to let them explore their interests, and we believe in being resourceful and can assure you they will be able to learn everything from changing a tire to camping and so much more. Laura can't wait to teach them all about cooking and gardening as much as Shannon can't wait to teach them how to shoot hoops.

As we move along this journey together, we will do everything we can to support and respect you. We want you to be as involved as you want in order to honor your place in this process and to give your child the best possible adoption experience. This gift could not be possible without your courage, selflessness, and bravery. We are committed to this experience and will always be grateful to and for you.

We are sure this decision is incredibly difficult, and we want you to know you are truly a blessing for us.

About Us

Hello! We are so excited to be on this journey! Laura grew up in Nebraska, and Shannon grew up in Iowa. We met each other while working as managers together for the same company. We became great friends and eventually, in April of 2018, took our relationship to the next level. We have built our little family on the foundation of love and the desire to seek out adventure. We love to spend time with family, travel, go camping, attend sporting events and concerts, and, most of all, spend time on the water. As we have progressed our leadership careers, we have experienced the freedom to enjoy these activities more frequently and cannot wait to share these days with a child, creating memories of the ultimate adventure.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a small town in Wisconsin. Our neighborhood is still being developed, which is so exciting as there are already several walking trails and there will eventually be a park built directly behind our house. Our street is alive with children's laughter as they ride their bikes all around the neighborhood. We love this, especially during Halloween, and it is so fun passing out candy to the little trick-or-treaters. We are undoubtedly a pet-loving home. Hawk and Jagger are fourteen-year-old yellow Lab brothers, and Benson is a three-year-old Saint Bernard mix. Hawk and Jagger are very mellow in their senior years, but Benson likes to keep them young by giving them drive-by zoomies and chasing them in the backyard.

Our Extended Family

We both were raised in large families. Laura has two brothers who are both married and have five boys between them, all under the age of thirteen. Her mother is one of fourteen children, and her father is one of nine, which, as you can imagine, meant lots of crazy fun running around with cousins at all of the family gatherings or camping trips.

Shannon has one sister, and her parents are from large families as well, with lots of cousins of all ages who still get together at least a couple times a year for a Fourth of July reunion or to celebrate the Iowa-Nebraska football game rivalry the day after Thanksgiving.

Family means the world to us, and there isn't a holiday that goes by without being surrounded by the love of our family and friends. Our extended family is built on strong values of love, support, and togetherness. Whether it's celebrating achievements, offering a shoulder to lean on during tough times, or simply enjoying each other’s company, we are always there for one another.

What Led Us To Adoption

We firmly believe that family is built on love, not just biology. Having both been raised in close-knit families, raising children is something we feel a natural desire to do and have both wanted for a few years now. Building our life together and welcoming children into our home would be a dream come true. We had discussed and educated ourselves on all of our options and started the IVF process over a year ago. After two unsuccessful attempts, we decided to turn to our option of adoption. Although this is our first venture into adoption, we have family members who have adopted, and their journeys are incredibly inspiring. We are truly blessed to have an amazing support system and equally blessed for this opportunity.
