dear expectant mother

The decision ahead of you is nothing we could ever imagine or completely understand. If you choose us, this decision ahead will be life changing for you, your baby, and for us as a family. This must be overwhelming as you continue your journey, desiring the best for you and your baby. Our hope is that our love can support you and your baby through encouragement, kindness, and grace.

Please know we acknowledge that this is not a decision made lightly or without deliberation, and we also haven’t come to the decision to expand our family through adoption lightly. We are wholeheartedly committed to journeying through this process together as much as possible.

If you choose us, we hope we are able to create a loving community around you and your baby as we expand our family. We can only begin to imagine the love you will pass on to your baby, and we are grateful to share and continue to spread this love to all those around us. Spencer knows this line of love as an adoptee who reflects his love from his birthmother and his parents to the world around him. He never forgets the love that his birthmother offered in her life-changing decision.

We cannot begin to express our gratitude as we join in this process with you. We look forward to the traditions and memories we will make and the love we will share.

About Us

Hello! We’re Spencer and Lucas. We’re excited to tell you about us. We met in Oklahoma while Spencer was finishing his bachelor’s degree and Lucas was working for a nonprofit. Spencer began volunteering at the nonprofit, where we became fast friends. We shared our first date on New Year's Day in 2010 by going to a horrible horror movie. Our love for horror and laughter strengthened our relationship. After moving into our first home, Lucas supported Spencer while he pursued his master’s degree. Lucas’s career began to blossom when he started classes in accounting and moved to a large firm. Spencer’s work moved us to New Mexico and finally Washington, D.C. We make our home open to all our chosen family and friends for visits while continuing our love of horror movies and quality time together.

Our Home & Pets

We love our walkable neighborhood just a block from many parks and attractions. The city and region offer many wonderful things for families, including schools just in our backyard and other opportunities. We share our home with a sweet, 20-pound rescue dog named Cruella. She is a white and black poodle mix who loves to greet all our visitors with love and attention.

Our Extended Family

Spencer has a tight-knit given family of twelve and close friends who make up our chosen family. Spencer’s family is filled with love and memories, laughing at inside jokes, and sharing food together. Some of their favorite traditions include football games, family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, and any chance they’re able to gather and be together. Spencer has an older sister and one older cousin, both of whom have children who love their Uncle Spencer and Uncle Lucas.

Lucas’s family is spread out geographically, with a sister and nephews on the West Coast and a sister, niece, nephew, brother, sister-in-law, and parents in Oklahoma. While they are apart physically, they stay in one another’s lives by keeping up with everything from big events to small life changes. They love to gather for life events and holidays whenever possible and look forward to gathering again soon.

We love spending time with our families, creating new traditions that reflect the deep love they have for one another and their loved ones. Whether it’s singing hymns on Christmas Eve or waffles for a birthday breakfast, loving traditions are something we hope to continue and create in a child’s life.

What Led Us To Adoption

We were led to adoption because of our desire to create a loving, caring, and brave home for a child whose mom is looking for the same. Spencer is an adoptee and knows the deep love of parents who made a loving and kind home. Lucas’s compassion and love for all people propels his desire to love and care for a small human, just as his parents did for him. Together, we hope our love will bring great joy to a child and mom.
