dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

I cannot even begin to understand how difficult of a decision this must be for you. This is likely the most difficult and selfless decision you could possibly make. To even be considering adoption as an option for your child shows what a brave, strong woman you are. Please know that whatever decision you make, I respect and support you, and I will be praying for you. If you choose me I promise to never take for granted the courageous decision that you have made.

If chosen, I will always provide all the love and support this child needs, and not just me but my family as well. I promise to provide the best education possible. I will provide every opportunity to travel so they can learn other cultures. They will have every chance to live creatively and find what they like best, from sports to the arts. But the most important thing is they will be raised with the highest standards to respect themselves as well as everyone else.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I will be praying for you during this emotional time. Also thank you for possibly making my dream of becoming a mother a reality.

About Me

If there is anything in life I am certain of, it’s that I am meant to be a mom. My friends would describe me as loving, nurturing, and thoughtful. I think my biggest blessing in life is being an identical twin since I always have my best friend with me. I am a physician and worked for over ten years as an OB/GYN. I have been so lucky to take part in so many miracles of delivery and even had the opportunity to speak with women about adoption in the past. In the past year, I have started practicing more aesthetic medicine, which has allowed me to have a much more flexible schedule where I can be at home more. I love to travel. My favorite thing to do is read a good book under an umbrella at the beach. I think that sounds like the perfect vacation.

My Home & Pets

I live in a small city in the South. I have lived in my house for five years. My neighborhood has a pool and an outdoor fireplace. We also have a large park with a playground next door. Additionally, we have a marina with a boat dock right in our backyard. However, the best part of the community is my neighbors. We are diverse and range from young families to retirees with grandchildren. Despite our differences in age, they have all become a tight-knit group of my extended family. When they learned I had started the adoption process, they were thrilled for me. This baby will have many grandparents. My pets include my loves Willie, a terrier mix, and Hank, a pug.

My Extended Family

My extended family includes my father, who is very excited, as well as two brothers and my twin sister. My oldest brother is married and has two children, my two amazing nephews. Our favorite holiday is Christmas, and we always try to make plans to be together then. Both my sister and my nephew are great bakers, so every year we do our own version of Nailed It! We make three teams of two to make the best crazy thing we can think of, and our dad is the judge. Last year we got six inches of snow and unexpectedly lost electricity, so we ended up making gingerbread houses with an impromptu snowball fight. Last year was truly the perfect white Christmas. Our holidays are always fun, and everyone always has a great time.

What Led Me To Adoption

I have always had in the back of my mind that I would adopt. During residency, I was able to witness the miracle firsthand. On Labor and Delivery, a pregnant woman came in, who, for various reasons, was unable to keep her baby. I called an attending, whom all the residents knew desperately wanted another child but was unable to do so. She came up, and a successful adoption occurred. It was really amazing to witness such a beautiful act of courage and love.
