dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for considering us to raise your baby. We are grateful for the love and care you are already giving this tiny human and know it will provide a lasting, positive foundation. The little one you are growing and nurturing now is a blessing and a gift to the world. Thank you for reading about us and imagining your baby as a part of our family of fun.

We are excited to raise your baby if you choose us. We will have fun with them, nurture them, and provide education and experiences that help them learn about their gifts and what they love. As a part of our family, your baby will have a daily and lifelong experience of love and respect. As our kids grow to be adults, we want them to have tools to build vibrant networks that bring joy and connection to their lives.

We are excited to help your child realize their potential, learn to be someone others can count on, and become a person who brings joy to the world. We love cooking, listening to music, dancing, hiking, having campfires under the moon, and looking at art. Our family is based on love, gratitude, curiosity, and courage. We believe we are responsible to make the world a better place and are very much looking forward to raising another child alongside the amazing child we have. We look forward to connecting sometime soon!

About Us

Being able to laugh together has gotten us through the ups and downs of two decades! We have faced a lot of challenges as a couple, from supporting family through health scares, moving across the country, and even living abroad for two years. Luckily, each time we have made it to the other side stronger than before. These days, Suzy works for the town where we live leading communications, and Jody works for a school focused on getting people of all ages outside to learn about the natural world in nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We love where we live and are incredibly grateful to live in an awe-inspiring place. Our friends and family describe us as a rock-solid couple who are deeply in love and supportive of each other. Our family thrives on trying new things, making deep connections with people, and diving into whatever the universe puts before us.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a super safe and truly magical town near a lot of wide-open spaces. Our home is cozy in the winter and breezy in the summer, full of windows looking out on the mountains and a bunch of trees. The kitchen, where we all enjoy cooking together, is central to our home. We also have a playroom that we all use—Sora and Jody play soccer and swing around on rings, Suzy does yoga, and we regularly jam out and have family dance parties there. On summer evenings, we ride bikes to a local park to water our plot in the community garden. Sora loves this park, where he can play in the small creek.

Our Extended Family

We both grew up in tight-knit families with siblings. Jody’s mom lives down the block from us and moved here from the East Coast largely to spoil her only grandchild, which she is great at! She and Sora love to eat ice cream, play games, watch TV, and learn things together. She is also excited to share these special moments with another grandchild.

The rest of our family is scattered across the country in California, Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, and we spend time hosting or visiting them on vacations and for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our holidays are centered on good food and good people. We have amazing family and friends to share these special times with.

We love spending a day in the snow cutting down our own Christmas tree and then decorating it with holiday music and treats. We watch fireworks at the home of our dear friends to ring in the New Year, and we usually spend the Fourth of July on a camping trip. We have been camping with Sora since he was an infant and would love to share that experience with your baby. Being in nature with family, away from all of the demands of daily life, is an essential way our family connects and recharges.

What Led Us To Adoption

We love being parents. Our son was born on a snowy morning in December of 2015. Sora was conceived with the help of a donor, and Suzy carried him. She got pregnancy-induced high blood pressure though, and Sora had to be delivered six weeks early and spent two weeks in the NICU. Doctors told us that if Suzy were to conceive again, future pregnancies would likely also be high risk. We want Sora to have a sibling, and we have plenty of love in our hearts and our home to share with another child.
