About Us

Hello! We are Ken and Tara from Florida! We have been together for five years and married for three. Ken is a fun personality who makes people laugh and feel relaxed. Tara is quieter around new people at first, but once comfortable, she can let her silly side out. We both work from home. Ken is a mortgage loan originator, and Tara is a clinical research manager. Ken loves to cook and hopes to pass on that tradition. He can be found fishing or disc golfing. Tara’s hobbies include yoga, bike riding, beach activities, and pickleball. Tara used to teach yoga as a hobby and hopes to teach her child one day. We both like to enjoy our pool, play with our dogs and host game nights and holidays. We love to travel about two to three times a year. Our everyday activities include working, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a quiet, safe suburb in Florida. Our neighborhood has a park with a giant playground, a dog park, and basketball and tennis courts. Our town has waterfront parks that are great for picnicking. We are near elementary, middle, and high schools (all are highly rated). We have great relationships with our immediate neighbors. Our home is a four-bedroom, ranch-style home with an open floor plan. We have a fenced-in backyard with a swimming pool. We have two dogs and a cat who all get along. Our Lab is sweet and gentle and loves swimming and playing fetch. Our labradoodle is a goofball who loves to give wet kisses and is affectionate. Our cat thinks he runs the house. He is sweet but shy.

Our Extended Family

We have close relationships with all extended family members. Ken’s family lives within an hour drive. His parents have been married 47 years. Ken has two sisters and four nieces and nephews he sees or speaks to regularly. Tara’s family lives within a 30-minute drive. Tara has one sister, one niece, and one nephew. Tara sees her family frequently. Tara speaks with her mom daily and sees her sister weekly for bike riding. Tara’s mom and stepfather are still married. Our families are excited for the idea of us expanding our family and will love the children as any grandparent, aunt, uncle, or cousin would.

We host a ton of family events, and 15-20 people come for good food and fun games. A new tradition is around Christmastime, when we gather at our house for a family bike ride around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. We decorate our bikes with lights, garland, and wreaths and dress up in Christmas pajamas. We then gather back at our house for a home-cooked meal by Ken, traditionally a lasagna.

We have lots of close friends we consider family as well. The thought of us adopting a child is a blessing for everyone.

What Led Us To Adoption

We are very excited to adopt and expand our family. We would love to have two children eventually be part of our family. We have a lot of love to give and are fortunate to have resources to provide for children. We’ve always known we wanted children in our family and are excited to show our future children love and a sense of belonging. Tara’s biological father passed away when she was eight years old, and her stepfather legally adopted her. With this history comes a sense of knowing that family is not always blood but what you create it to be.
