We are Theresa and Darwin. We’ve been married for 11 years. We met when we were 15 at a fast food restaurant. Teresa already worked at this particular location, and Darwin had an interview. Not only did he get the job but he also fell in love. He never actually said he fell in love at the time, but he did transfer to Teresa’s school.So that’s her story, and she is sticking with it, lol. Darwin is a CPA (certified public accountant), and Teresa is a project management professional.
Fun Facts: Teresa’s favorite color is purple. She thinks she can do anything (within reason) with the right tools, team, and support. She is learning you can’t do everything on your own. Darwin is basically a genius but he is also down to earth, and people love him. Our dream trip would be Europe or a nice beach.
We live in a great community in the Midwest with plenty of children in our family. Our friends also have children, and there are many kids in our neighborhood. Our school district is highly rated. We have a three-bedroom home, and the little one will have their own bedroom and bathroom. We also have a one-year-old yorkie named Milo. He enjoys long walks, barking at delivery drivers, watching TV, and eating. He is a true lover boy and would gladly welcome a baby into our family.
Teresa is an only child with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She doesn’t have any siblings, so her childhood friends have become more like sisters and brothers. Holidays are a big deal. The family gathers for Christmas lunch and dinner, and on Thanksgiving, our family spends the whole day together (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). And of course we are BBQing on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
Darwin has the larger family. He has a host of aunts and uncles, four sisters, over 30 cousins, and friends. His family often has “random” dinners. His dad is a great cook and will often call us to have dinner as a family. On most holidays, we have to split time between family events.
Needless to say, we have a village excited as we are to welcome a precious child.
Over the years, as we navigated through life, we were not able to successfully have biological children. Teresa has always felt she would adopt (even as a kid), and Darwin always felt like when the time was right, we would have kids. We’ve realized the time is right, and we are ready to adopt. We’re so excited to expand our family.
