Tim & John

Family Type: Gay
State we live in: Washington

dear expectant mother

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about the two of us. We certainly cannot wait to learn more about you. Without someone like you, we would not have the opportunity to grow our family as we are now, and you have our deepest gratitude for your consideration.

We have both been very lucky to have excellent educational opportunities, and we are excited to pass those on to a child. Tim is an avid reader and is already buying books to read to the baby. We also think it is important to provide a well-rounded childhood, and we are excited to attend a child’s games, practices, recitals, matchs, or any other type of event for the hobbies and activities the child chooses. As two men who grew up with modest means, we look forward to providing opportunities we never had.

We also think it's important that you know we are both kids at heart. We are looking forward to introducing all of our favorite things to a child as he or she grows, from our old-school video game consoles to our favorite movies. Tim also loves to cook and bake, and he is excited to have a little helper in the kitchen. Perhaps most of all, we are looking forward to long weekends, vacations, trips to see family, and other chances to make memories.

Without someone like you, we would not have the opportunity to grow our family as we are now, and you have our deepest gratitude for your consideration.

About Us

We have been together for almost 12 years and married for two. We began dating in 2008 when Tim was in law school and John was working in IT in Pennsylvania. Since then, we have traveled the world together and moved across the country, where we built a new community of friends, improved our careers, and got married on our ten-year anniversary. We now live on the West Coast, near the water and with our two dogs. Tim works as a privacy and cybersecurity attorney, and John is a manager at an IT security company. Our next big adventure will be adding a new member to our family.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a two-bedroom home in a residential neighborhood of a large city with our two dogs. Aston is a 12-year-old pug/beagle mix, and Pod is a six-year-old shorthaired pointer mix. All four of us enjoy the outdoors, and there are many parks, playgrounds, and trails within walking distance or a short drive away. As we live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, we also look forward to having another little adventurer to get out with us to see the nearby beaches, mountains, hiking trails, and national parks. When we are at home, we enjoy playing video games, playing board games, reading, and watching movies.

Our Extended Family

We have big families spread across the country, and we also have a number of friends who are as close as family. We are both very close with our mothers, who both live in Pennsylvania and will hopefully stop asking soon when their grandbaby will be here. Tim’s father and stepmother are also excited for the new baby to arrive, and they live in Tennessee. John has four siblings and Tim has three, so the baby will have lots of aunts and uncles lining up for a turn to hold the baby. Tim is also close with his cousin, and we both have our own grandmothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins who are excited for our growing family.

We also have friends who have been as close as family over the years, and they are almost as excited as we are. There will be no shortage of people who want to see, hold, kiss, and snuggle a new baby all over the country once we are all together again.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have both seen childrens’ lives improved by adoption and have never doubted adoption would be the best way to expand our family. John was raised by a single mother, and he took an active role in caring for his sisters when they were children. That experience fostered a nurturing side. When Tim was young, he spent most of his weekends with his cousin, who was adopted and became like a sister to Tim. As adults, we have been close with a number of couples who have happily adopted or fostered children. We are ready to begin that journey ourselves. We are also active supporters of a foundation that supports adoption and other services for children in the Pacific Northwest, and Tim is on the foundation’s Board of Directors.
