dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and consider us as adoptive parents. First and foremost, we want to honor your strength, love for your baby, and the care with which you're making this incredibly difficult decision. We can only imagine the emotions you're navigating right now.

We've dreamed of becoming dads for many years and feel ready in every way. We've been together for nearly 15 years and were married in March 2023. Soon after, we bought a home in a quiet neighborhood, where we envision raising a child with laughter, kindness, learning, and unconditional love. As we explored different paths to parenthood, adoption stood out as the most meaningful. We believe it's rooted in compassion and courage on both sides, and we're honored to be on this journey.

This process has brought us even closer, helping us reflect deeply on the kind of parents we want to be. Through parenting classes and personal growth, we've gained insight into the immense love and thought expectant mothers like you bring to this decision. We imagine a home filled with bedtime stories, scraped knees, giggles, and dreams. We hope to build a family grounded in love, intention, and a shared wish for a full and meaningful life. Should you choose us, your child will be deeply loved by us and our large, supportive circle of family and friends. No matter your decision, we honor and respect your strength and heart.

Our Lifestyle

Each day is a blend of rhythm, fun, and a little bit of dirt under the fingernails. Mornings start off with a walk or jog alongside our dog, Naya. After breakfast, Tyler teaches homeschool students and tackles house chores, while Justin heads out across the county, visiting patients as a home health physical therapist. By the time Justin returns in the afternoon to document his visits, Tyler is just warming up for all his after-school piano lessons. We always reconnect for dinner together and end the day with a walk around the block or a movie with popcorn.

Weekends are our favorite mix of relaxation and productivity. We do backyard chores, care for our chickens, prune our little orchard, and keep the garden alive. We make time for outdoor adventures like hiking or visiting a nursery. Weekends are also typically when we have all the local nieces over for a big breakfast or have family/friends over for dinner and games.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home at the corner of a quiet cul-de-sac, just a few blocks from parks, schools, and the library. The back of our house opens into our "little sanctuary," with large sliding glass doors that bring in natural light and a view of our spacious yard.

Out back, we've built a chicken coop, planted raised garden beds, and filled the space with fruit trees. We love the peaceful, natural feel it brings to our everyday life.

Our Golden Retriever, Naya, is a gentle, playful sweetheart who adores people and always sneaks in for pets.
We live in a vibrant city with great weather year-round, and we enjoy beach days, museums, and family-friendly fun.

Our Family & Friends

We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a loving, supportive family and community. Between us, we have five wonderful parents who are thrilled to welcome a new grandchild. Our five siblings and their spouses have given us a large, joyful extended family—with 15 cousins who can't wait for a new playmate to join the fun.

We live just down the road from most of Justin's family, making everyday interactions and spontaneous get-togethers part of life. We visit Tyler's family in Idaho each year, as well as hosting them when they visit, which is typically 2-3 times a year.

Each year, we enjoy traditions of family meals, holiday house decorating, and watching themed movies while listening to music each season. A favorite of Tyler's side is the Thanksgiving Gobble, where each person gives their best gobble before eating together. Justin's family enjoys a Christmas Pickle search, in which a pickle ornament is hidden in the tree, creating a race for the kids to find it.

Our wider circle of friends includes a few we consider chosen family—whether it's a house concert in the studio or a backyard BBQ, we love seeing them regularly.

Our Favorite Adventures

Two of our favorite trips:

Our trip to Maui was incredibly relaxing. We swam with wild dolphins, snorkeled coral reefs with sea turtles, and hiked the bamboo forest on the Road to Hana. We tried local foods like poke bowls and shaved ice, and took a helicopter ride over Molokai and Lanai with amazing views of cliffs and beaches. Amazing!

Our trip to Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands was unforgettable. We stayed with locals, which gave us a deeper connection to each location and created great friendships. From playing historic cathedral pipe organs to exploring world-class museums, every day felt like a blend of bucket-list sights and meaningful cultural experiences.
