About Us

We are both very energetic and outgoing people who love spending time with our family and friends. Julian is more extroverted and free spirited, which is a great balance for Tyler, who is a very logical thinker. We both work in education. We met in 2013 while working in the same school district. We reconnected in 2018, were engaged in 2019, and married in 2020. Julian is a fourth grade language arts and social studies teacher, and Tyler is a middle school assistant principal. We both enjoy sports. Julian coached cheerleading for 22 years but has since retired to focus on family and adoption. Tyler is a Bengals season ticket holder and has a love for soccer. We both have a love for new adventures and trying new things, especially when it comes to food. We enjoy cooking a meal together and sitting down each night to discuss our day.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a new community that is extremely family friendly. Our home has four bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, a finished basement, and a large backyard for our family to grow in stability and comfort. We are roughly 10-15 minutes from everything we need. All of our neighbors have children ranging from newborns to fourth grade. Our neighborhood is full of kids riding bikes and playing in yards. We gather together with our neighbors on summer nights and weekends while everyone watches their children play. We currently have two wonderful dogs, Roxy and Olivia, who love to have the kids in our neighborhood visit them. They are both extremely loving and affectionate dogs we cherish having in our lives.

Our Extended Family

Julian is biologically an only child, and Tyler has a half-brother and half-sister. We have many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We both have family we see frequently within an easy driving distance, and we also have family we travel to see yearly. At 18, Julian was unofficially adopted by his family, which lives only 20 minutes from where we currently live. This is the family he considers his mom, dad, sister, and brother. Our families have both supported us through our education, our marriage, and this current journey of adoption.

We both believe family goes beyond sharing the same blood. We have many friends in our lives we consider our family, many of whom created our beautiful wedding party. Many of our friends have children we enjoy spending time with and sharing in their experiences. We both cherish the friendships we have created over the years.

The day after Thanksgiving, we wake up early and get all bundled up to go cut down our yearly Christmas tree on our family’s tree farm. This is a tradition Tyler brought into the marriage and Julian embraced. It has now become something we want to carry on with our children.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always hoped to have a family, even early on, when we began dating. Being a gay couple, we had to sit down and think about what our true path would be to starting a family, and we both landed on adoption. With both of us working in education, we truly love spending our day with kids and would love to come home to a child once we leave school for the day. We have family members who have adopted, and we see the joy it brings to them to this day. We both had different upbringings, and we are excited to mesh our experiences together in raising a child of our own.
