Family Type: Gay Couple
State we live in: Illinois

dear expectant mother

We are very excited that you might choose us as the new family for your child, and yet our hearts go out to you having to make this difficult decision. We imagine there will always be some sadness for you around this choice, but we also hope there will always be deep joy for you in the gift you will offer.

Our devotion to each other over the last 17 years has helped us cope with challenges, face our fears, and find our path in the world. We dream that we will be able to share this love with your child, to offer them the same dedication and support we’ve shared with each other.

Fred can’t wait to encourage the curiosity and wonder he learned as a child. Will is looking forward to building a colorful home for your child with good meals, great art, imagination, silly voices, and lots of dad jokes. Reese is an incredibly social and joyful girl who loves to give hugs and kisses and will shower her new brother or sister with so much tender affection that we can’t wait to see.

Thank you for considering our family as a potential recipient of your gift. We hope to meet you in person and share our love with you as well.

We love the idea of raising your child alongside our adopted daughter, Reese. We want her and your child to feel the incredible love and good fortune to be desired so deeply.

About Us

Fred grew up on a farm in Missouri and is now a licensed architect. He recently completed the renovation of a local children’s museum, completed his second triathlon, and loves to watch movies, garden, and bake cookies. Will grew up in a historic part of eastern Pennsylvania and is now a priest after a career as a professional singer. We met through a mutual friend at a Christmas costume party in 2004. Will arrived dressed as a wiseman, and Fred was hosting the party dressed as Joseph! It was love at first sight as we danced that night in our costumes, bar hopping through Boystown. We love to travel, ride bikes, relax on the beach, visit art galleries and museums, and attend concerts, theater, and modern ballet. We were blessed to adopt our daughter Reese (born in 2020), and she has been the center of our universe since then.

Our Home & Pets

We currently live in an apartment attached to the church where Will works. The church is nestled in a historic neighborhood near downtown and just a few minutes’ walk from the lakefront, beaches, a playground, and the zoo. The church is an anchoring community for us and includes many children’s opportunities, including a gym, preschool, and nursery. The apartment is bigger than we need, but we aren’t complaining. It has a large guestroom for visiting family that will become Reese’s room and a lovely nursery for the new baby! We share our apartment with two cats, Slinky and Scout, who are very well behaved and very soft! Slinky is especially sweet to Reese, who loves to pet him.

Our Extended Family

We both come from supportive and loving families. Fred was surrounded by family growing up on a dairy farm. His grandmother, two uncles, aunt, and cousins lived across the road. Now his three older sisters have vibrant careers, with six children between them. His parents are retired and love hosting the grandkids for creative activities like plays, pirate parties, science camps, and art activities.

Will grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs as one of ten cousins on his mom’s side. The family is very close and has a long tradition of holidays together, eating special foods (crab dip, Grandma’s vegetable soup, lobster bisque), and singing Christmas carols around the piano. Will’s dad is French and immigrated to the U.S. after he met Will’s mother in the 1970s in Bermuda. She is now an independent psychotherapist and loves being a grandma. His older brother is married with two kids and is part of the family business as an investment advisor.

Our Adoption Story

Some of our closest friends were adopted as children. We celebrate not just their birthdays but also their adoption days and have heard stories about how lucky they felt growing up. We love the idea of raising your child alongside our adopted daughter, Reese. We want her and your child to feel the incredible love and good fortune to be desired so deeply. Adoption is such a gift!
