dear expectant mother

First and foremost—thank you—thank you for taking the time to read our profile, and thank you for considering the selfless act of adoption that helps create families like ours! We want you to know just how much we admire and respect you. The care you are putting into this decision is apparent when it comes down to just how much you love the baby and the hopes you carry for their future, and we hope that you always feel supported and surrounded by compassion every step of the way through this journey that is uniquely yours.

If we are lucky enough to be chosen as the adoptive parents to your child, please know that your baby would be cherished beyond measure by both of us, our son, our parents, our siblings, and our entire family! We promise you that their life will be filled with warmth, laughter, unconditional love, and the experiences and personal growth that travel as a Citizen of the World will bring.

We have walked this path before, and know the feelings and emotions associated with it. No matter where your journey may lead you, please know that we hold a special place in our hearts for you, and women like you. Thank you for considering this selfless act, and for the gift of hope you bring.

If we are lucky enough to be chosen as the adoptive parents to your child, please know that your baby would be cherished beyond measure by both of us, our son, our parents, our siblings, and our entire family!

About Us

Our story began in 2014 in a college classroom for an elective course that neither of us needed for our degree programs, but that Fate had decided we should take. Eventually, library study sessions became Starbucks study dates, and we realized that we are a perfect example of the phrase "opposites attract." Whereas Cody has a calmer disposition, and is generally more introverted, Yusuf is the outgoing extrovert of the family. While Cody enjoys spending his free time reading books, playing video games, or going on a run, Yusuf enjoys planning the family's activities and being our family's Extreme Couponing Expert (seriously… he could probably be on the show). Ultimately, we find that we "even each other out" with Yusuf enticing Cody out of his shell more, and Cody reminding Yusuf to rest. Together, with our son, we enjoy traveling the world and experiencing all that different countries and cultures have to offer.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a Master Planned Community, which is code for "a small village" of homes, schools, parks, trails, and other amenities all within walking distance! Our home was one of the first ones built, so we have had the joy of watching our village grow in the literal sense of the word, with new homes and additions being added, and figuratively with our wonderful neighbors who all know us by name! One of our family's favorite things to do after work is to go walking with our son to any of the nearby playgrounds, and watch him experience his childhood and make new friends to further expand our little village.

Our Family & Friends

Similar to our personalities, both of our extended families could be described as "opposites"! We live smack dab in the middle between Cody's parents (~10 minutes south) and Yusuf's parents (~10 minutes north). Cody is an only child who was raised by a hard-working single mother who provided for his needs all the way through college. She later married an amazing man whom Cody refers to as his father. Cody has aunts and uncles who live scattered around Texas and Illinois, and cousins who live in Texas, Wisconsin, Missouri, and D.C. Yusuf is the oldest of his parents' four children. He has two younger sisters, and a younger brother. Yusuf's family is scattered much further than just the U.S., with aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Texas, North Carolina, Egypt, Germany, and Belgium!

Both of our families enjoy joining us on our travels around the world! Cody's extended family tries to take a big vacation every other year, the most recent of which was in Mazatlan, Mexico! Yusuf's siblings and parents will sometimes join us on our travels, or schedule a family cruise. We absolutely love either visiting family, or getting to travel with them!

Our Adoption Story

Our journey to becoming parents quite literally happened overnight—our son's birth mother was unaware she was pregnant until she began having health complications. Her selfless choice to select adoption for her unborn child led to our connection, and our son must have known that all three of us were ready, because he arrived the very next day! To this day, we are eternally grateful for our son's birth mother, who blessed us with the light of our lives. Beyond this story, we always knew we wanted more than one child, and his recent fascination with babies has reignited our own baby fever, which has put us on the path to continuing our family's story where he becomes a big brother!
